Hello! As Valentine’s Day approaches, it’s a great time to give yourself some love and pamper yourself. That’s why Michelle, guest contributor who works at Skana Spa, has come up with a great Eco-Friendly do-it-yourself facial for us. Thanks Michelle!

If you ever wanted to go to a spa for an eco-friendly facial, but couldn’t because you didn’t have the money or the time, now you can stay home and do it yourself. Valentine’s Day is almost here and you deserve some pampering too, so set up an appointment- with yourself! I suggest you arrive for your appointment early since you will be the one setting up the room and you won’t want to keep yourself waiting!
Find a soft, comfortable chair to sit on and light a scented candle. Note that your chair should be one you feel relaxed in, but not so relaxed that you fall asleep before you finish. Play relaxing music and climb into comfortable attire. Secure your hair back, away from your face. You are now ready to experience a luxury spa treatment right in the comfort of your own home.
What You Will Need:
-1 Cup Cooked, Cooled Pumpkin
-1 Cup Cooked, Cooled Oatmeal
-2 Egg Whites
-1 tsp Honey
-1 Large Bowl of Hot Water
1Towel
Note* Its always good to have extra ingredients on hand in case the texture of the mixture isn’t how you prefer!
Prep:
To prep, mash the cooked and cooled down pumpkin and combine it with the egg whites, cooked and cooled oatmeal and the honey. Keep stirring all of the ingredients together until they are combined thoroughly. Place in the refrigerator to keep cold.
Directions:
When you are ready, wash your face with your usual skin cleanser and make sure all of your make-up is removed. Fill your bowl with very warm water (almost boiling- boiling) and lean about 16 inches away from it. Be VERY careful not to burn yourself. Put your head under the towel and let the steam open your pores, but stop if you can’t take the heat and try moving further away from the bowl. Stop steaming after about 10 minutes.
Spread the cold mask on your face and neck, covering your forehead, cheeks, and nose and even under your chin. If you feel a certain area is more of a ‘problem area’ than another spread the mixture a little thicker there. Tilt your head back, relax and let the mask dry. This should take about 15-20 minutes. To get the ultimate spa experience you could even place a warm rice bag on your neck (following the products directions).
After the mask has set, simply rinse off with warm water. Dry your skin. If you are pampering yourself at night, continue with your normal routine and apply your moisturizer and/or toner.
This eco-friendly facial is surely a bargain, so thank yourself when you are done and reassure yourself you will soon be back for another! Enjoy the beautiful results.

This DIY facial sounds so easy to make. I’m going to try it this weekend.
